Decluttering Tips
The main reason people have clutter is they are not able to let go the items. The first step to declutter is to realize many of the things you are keeping you do not need. You have formed an attachment with a monetary object for whatever reason that is causing the source of your clutter.
Take steps to learn not to keep anything you really dont need. You may be a recipe collector cutting out clippings and only stacking them in one area. Go through the clippings and organize them. You can get a small box to store them or for the computer savvy person type out the different recipes and make a special file for them.
Question why you are keeping the different items. Does the item have a sentimental value such as a childhood memory? Will you be getting the item out frequently? If you wont be taking the item out then put it in a storage container clearly marked so when you decide to get it out you can find it easily.
Some of the possessions you have are from the past. You need to determine their value in your life. The majority of the clutter and items can be removed without making a huge impact on your life other than a cleaner home. When you are removing the clutter from your home remind yourself you are moving forward so you may not really need the items from the past.
Work on the cluttered areas individually. Take your time to sift through it all. Toss out the trash and unused items. Most of the time you will wonder why you ever kept them in the first place.
Toss out old magazines and newspapers. Only keep what you are going to read again and keep them in a storage container in the closet or under the bed.
