Having Trouble Getting Rid of Something?
Sometimes there are some items that are difficult to get rid of. Now we are not talking about sentimental items here because we have dealt with getting rid of sentimental items in a previous post. There are other items that just seem to find their way around the house being scuffled from place to place essentially deferring the decision making process.
This does not mean that you are decluttering your home but rather that you are just reorganizing the clutter. This will absolutely not work, and for those of you who fall prey to this type of clutter reorganization you will have to find another way of decluttering.
If there is an item in your home that does not serve a purpose or have a value, sentimental value is not included here, but a real monetary value than it should be trashed, given away to your favorite charity or sold.
If the item that you are having trouble with has some good value you could try your hand at selling it in craigslist (For Items that are usually better sold locally ie big bulky items) or go ahead and give it a try on ebay. You would be surprised at what you can get for items that are just taking up space in your home.
The last time I decluttered my home for excess items I earned a cool $500 through ebay, craigslist and a yard sale. I can’t think of anyone who couldn’t use some extra money especially now.
As a rule of thumb, if you haven’t utilized the item within the last year than it is probably time to let it go. It will usually just end up collecting dust and not being used at all. Why not earn some money from it if you can or just free up that space for something that you know you will be using.
