How to Declutter
Whenever you decide to remove the clutter from any area whether it is your home or your office you have generally a major task to perform. You have allowed things to collect whether it has been subconsciously or out of habit. You know the mess has now reached the point where you have to remove it but you dont always want to do it or know just where to start. Dont worry there are methods to do desired task.
Make a schedule for the time to do the decluttering. Put it on a calendar as a reminder and to let others know you have made a commitment. You will see the calendar and then act on the set task.
Begin the task by getting several large boxes or storage containers. You will need to place to store the items or to haul to the trash. You may decide to use boxed to store the items or you may want to get a clear storage bin. Either way make sure the boxes and containers are sturdy and stackable.
Get a permanent marker tape a few trash bags and watch with an alarm. You will need to plot a strategy and keep time of the cleaning so you dont get overwhelmed or over worked. The key to decluttering is to not do it all at one time but in smaller sessions.
Mark on box ?keep? or ?storage? one box ?give away? and one box ?trash?. Use the boxes and begin sorting through the area. Once you get started you will forget all about the earlier feelings of dread and fear.
Start in one area of the room and work in a clockwise manner. You will be more organized when you keep to one pattern and method. Create a system to reduce the stress.
When you pick something up go with your initial instinct. If you start to put it in the?trash? box dont take it out. Stick to your first feeling and dont look back.
