Making the most of your desk space can be simple when you adhere to simple rules of Decluttering. The reality is that a desk can easily become overcome with paperwork and office supplies which are used to keep everything in order, but rather end up taking over the entire work surface.
Work surfaces that are used ineffectively are a waste of space and should be avoided. There are many people that do not use the space to their advantage, finding that they run out of room constantly. When a desk space is effectively organized the user can find everything that they are looking for, while being provided with a place to work through the entire surface, thereby increasing their productivity.
What are some ways that people can declutter their desk space and make the most of their work surfaces?
• Ensure that all spaces are used effectively. One of the best ways to do this is to build upwards, rather than using the surface of the desk alone. Taking advantage of stacking folder systems or small shelves and drawers which can be placed on the desk can allow the person to use the office space to store folders and files with ease.
• Create an effective filing system. This is the only way that the user can reduce the amount of paper which appears on the desk. The effective filing system should include labeled folders which can reduce the amount of paper clutter.
• Choose a desk with storage. Desks that come without storage can increase the clutter that appears on the surface of the desk. Desks that encompass drawers are an effective way to reduce the clutter by allowing drawers to be organized and store items.
• Make use of drawer organizers. Drawer organizers are an effective way to reduce the pile of junk that can accumulate in drawers. This way, everything in the desk will have a place. Take this to the next level and make use of labels for each of the drawers to ensure that items remain in place.
• Keep it constant. Whatever system that you choose to use, it should be kept constant through all users of the desk, this means that all users should adhere to the same system.

Easy Organization Tips

Organization is never an easy task. For many people the concept is simply lost. One good way to get and stay organized is to find a method that works for you and stick with it. There are a few tips that will help you to keep your home organized and de-cluttered easily.
First, you should remember that less really is more. It simply makes sense that the less you have, the less you will have to organize. Be sure to go through your things and throw out anything that you really do not need. You may also want to put a limit on new things that you purchase, such as new tech toys.
If you simply can not pass up that great bargain, then consider the “One In – One Out” method of organization. Each time that you purchase something new for a particular room or reason, be sure to take something out of that same space. For example, if you are buying a new kitchen gadget, then go through and chuck anything in your kitchen that you haven’t used in a while. You will still be adding things, but you won’t use up any more space.
Finally, get a timer and get to work. If you are having problems organizing areas such as the garage or your home desk, set a timer for fifteen minutes. Spend those minutes picking up and putting away as much clutter as you can. Once the timer goes off, you can take a break. This way you won’t feel completely overwhelmed with the de-cluttering process, and you will still accomplish your goal of organization.

Organizing Your Kids for Back to Schoo

With the end of summer drawing near it may seem that your declutter problems will soon be over. After all, no children in the house during the daytime seems to be the best fix for everyday clutter right? Wrong! When school begins you will have even more clutter each day than you have during the summer. Kids bringing in homework and other school papers, getting school clothing purchased and put away – all these things can add clutter and disorganization to your home.
Don’t give up hope though. There are ways that you can keep your home and your schedule organized during the school year, even during that first week or so when everything normally seems to come undone.
First, you should strive to get your house in complete order before school begins. Set your goal for the Sunday night before school starts, even if your school starts on a Friday. Have everything in order, all new school clothing put away and backpacks filled with the needed materials.
Next, keep in mind that school clothes shopping is a grand experience for children and can get very expensive. This is particularly true if you are one of those parents who simply must buy everything that you see for your little tot. be sure to keep a list of what your child really needs for school and try not to overdo the shopping. Take out old clothing and have a yard sale or better yet, donate it to charity. This will make room for new clothing without over filling your closet spaces.
The number one way to stay organized during the school year is to purchase a bulletin board. You can find these very inexpensively at most stores. They are perfect for keeping class schedules, school announcements and any other reminders handy. Be sure to have any school related meetings and teacher’s meetings on this board. It will help you to keep the whole year organized and ensure that you show up at specific school functions.
